alright so my cousin came down from his home to mine and needs help with his science fair project. Its a 7th grade project so well see how "smart" we are:crying: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif .

project objective: get one boiled egg into a bottle with a slightly smaller mouth opening than the egg, with only a candle.

the idea is to place the candle inside the egg and light it. place the egg on the top of the bottle and let it do its thing.

any idea as of why this would work?

The lit candle heats the air inside the bottle. When air is heated it expands (and takes up more room). As the heated air expands, some of it escapes out the bottle. When the candle goes out, the air inside the bottle cools and contracts (and takes up less room), thus creating a lower pressure inside the bottle than outside. The greater pressure outside the bottle forces the egg into the bottle.

Use a Gatorade bottle.

1) Put the candle inside the bottle (the candle should be tall enough to be able to light it from outside the bottle.

2) Hard boil the egg and let it cool.

3) Light the candle with a match and let it burn for a minute or two.

4) Peel the egg and set it on top of the bottle.

5) Wait.

The candle heats the air in the bottle causing it to expand. Placing the egg on top of the bottle seals it and cuts off the oxygen to the flame causing it to go out. The air in the sealed bottle cools and contracts creating a slight vaccuum. Since the egg is peeled, it warps just enough for the negative pressure to **** it into the bottle. Turn the bottle at an angle and remove the candle...

Credit is due to you. I didn't see your post...

I googled it and copied the first result I saw. Too lazy to write it myself so I plagiarized.
Took me a while to type it off the top of my head... Fat fingers and slow metabalism I guess...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/typing.gif.fd7c44a94b6ea7a328969e3ae0e010f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif

ya i had to do this in like 6th grade. i used a glass bottle and a match. just make sure when you peel hard boiled egg you do it perfectly, any little chunks that get peeled of with the shell make the egg get ****** down slower. just put the candle or whatever in the bottle, light it, then plop the egg on top. i think the flame causes a vacuum and ***** the egg in.
