Little bit of a problem...

Ok, as most of you know I have had my system for less then a month now. A couple days ago I went to turn on my amp. I heard a fuse blow and my head lights went out. I turned them off, and then back on then they come on. So I again turned on my amp, my head lights went off again. So I turned on my HU, then my lights and then my amp last, and agian, my HU, and lights turn off. So i turned my amp, then HU then lights and everything worked. When i first heard a fuse blow I lost my interior lighting. It was an annoyance but nothign that i thought would affect my driving. Well, last night on my way to town I was pulled over for not having any tail lights. I knew the cop so I didn't get a ticket but I was very pissed off that I have been driving around for a couple days with out tail lights. So today I decided to go and see what I could do to fix the problem. I replaced the fuse and bomb, my alarm (which goes off if my lights are on and the car is off) goes off, so I was like YES it works. So i go and turn the car on, and bomb, there goes that fuse. Before I had lost my first fuse I had rewired my amp and had sent some sparks flighing when I went to reground it, so i thought, if I just unground my amp i should be good, casue i can just ground it somwere else. Go unground it and put my only other fuse in. It blows so now I'm even more pissed. I'm not that good with wiring and cars so I have no idea what is wrong. I'm going to go get a ton of fuses and have my dad or some buddies come over and try and fix it. Just cerious if anyone here might have an idea as to what is wrong with my car.

Any help will be very appreceated.....

Jon

I can tell you that you really need to seek the help of a professional before you burn your car down. Not to bash ya here but you should study up a little on electricty before you attempt to dive in head first. If you werent so far away I would definately stop by and lend a hand. PM me.

I had a similar problem with a camero that I had. Everytime I started the car or turned on the headlights my tail lights, radio, and interior lights would go out and blow the fuse. Turned out to be an illumination wire was grounding out when the car/lights were turned on. Dont know if this helps but you may want to check. Did you install your head unit at te same time as your system? What fuse blew when this happened was it the accessory fuse?

I installed everything in the same night. Well i should say my freind installed everything. I let him do all the wiring and electrical stuff while I sat back and learned/watched. Hey thanks Einzee, would be nice if we weren't a continent apart, lol. The fuse that blew was my tail light fuse. No other fuses are blown so I'm assuming my interior lights are on that same fuse. I'm going to have the person who helped me install everything come over and we are just going to tare everything apart and find what is wrong.

Thanks guys for your help so far...

Jon

I would suggest looking at the ground on the radio first. Your problem is exactly like the one I had. Turned out that the camero had a black ground wire and a black illumination wire. You may want to start there.

Update...

Ok, problem fixed. The problem was I had the 12v ingition crossed with the the 12v battery lead. I put the wires on the right one, fix a problem i had in my rear speakers and boom, everything works... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif:)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Now I have another question, this one is more geared toward my HU so I might start a whole new thread to get more attention to it, idk. When I take the face plate off there is a small blinking red light. This light ust to come on after I had taken the face plate off but still had the car on. After I had turned the car off, the light would stop, not so now. I'm kinda worried bout it b/c, I don't want to draw attention to the car, like if it is at night and some punk sees the light, and I don't wnat the battery to go dead, I know it would take a lot to do, but some times, I go 3-4 days with out using the car. If anyone has had the same problem could you help, is it sopost to be there or not or what?????????

Thanks again for all you help...

Jon

one little red light is not going to run your battery down, dont worry about it. If you don't want to attract attention with it, get some electrical tape and cut a small piece of and cover the light.

not a big deal.

that red light is supposed to be a security feature :-/, and it will never run your batter down they draw less than a cell phone charge about 8 milli amps!

I'm not in buffalo or rochester. I'm bout 18 miles north of Walken Glen if you know were that is. Right on seneca lake, well maybe 1/8 of a mile from it. In the middle of no were, Himrod to be exact...lol

thanks guys for your input...

yea that led is a theft "deterrent". you can either just cover it up, take it out, or bust it out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
