Line Out Converter Question

Hey,

I am looking at adding an amp and sub combo into my mazda 3, I have learned that I must use a line out converter to get the sound from the rear speakers to my amp. My question is :

I see line out converters advertised with some "remote trigger"... what is this and what does it do?

I have also read that I will probably need to use a line driver... is this true?

Thanks

Not sure what the "remote trigger" is for, never delt with it with any of the LOCs ive used or installed.

You may need a line driver, but honestly, I would install the LOC first and adjust my gains on my amp to see if it will be needed.

I had to use one in my car because my amps needed quite a bit of signal (6v) coming through the RCAs, otherwise I had to run the gain up too high on the amp. The LOC was only putting out 2v.

This may not be the case in your setup.

If the OP intends to go with just a simple LOC over one of the fancier factory integration units, I highly suggest that he look into the adjustable line output converters.

My cousin mistakenly installed a PAC 10 to 1 LOC on his factory deck in a Chevy Colorado. With the gain maxed out, I was only able to get 265 watts out of his MTX 81000d wired @ 3 ohms on a 13w7. He recently replaced his deck, and now it is doing 800 watts @ 3 ohms with the gains where they are supposed to be! He needs something besides factory mids and highs though because the one 13w7 overpowers the existing stuff BADLY!
