Line Driver?

Ok, i've been scouring the internet for about 2 months now to find more and more info about car audio, just for the hell of it. One of the only things i can't find anything about are line drivers. I see a couple companies with them, but i have no idea what they do. can anyone explain? same with bass driver.

since i'm going for sq, i'll probably want a line driver right? who makes yours and how much you want for it?
