Hey guys,
I have been experiencing dimming of my headlights and interior lights/gauges since ive installed my system. It is two 15" alpine type rs - (2000W Peak, 750W RMS,Dual 2 Ohm each) and a RE audio 1500W RMS monoblock amp.

The other day I had the big three done, and Im still having dimming. I went back to the car audio shop and asked what I could try next, and he suggested adding a separate car audio battery that would be dedicated to my audio system. I read alot of forums that would suggest getting a H/O alternator first. What should I try next?! Im sick of throwing money down the drain.

It only dims when the bass hits on hard notes. My car comes stock with a 160amp alternator, so Im not sure if a stronger alternator is needed. Should I do what the shop said and dedicate a quality battery to the system? Or will I need a stronger alternator first? Please help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I need to stop this dimming so I can install my oracles halos -cries- Thanks

Check to make sure the shop did the Big 3 properly.

160 Amp Alternator should handle 1500W RMS without too much issue at all. As for the battery idea, it might help stabilize but you'll want to upgrade the under the hood battery too. Mixing battery types (AGM and Lead Acid) will shorten their life spans.

EDIT: Make sure the gains are set properly too. Clipping the **** out of an amp will cause voltage drop.

EDIT: What part of KY are you in?

Bro check the grounds make sure all are properly done well meaning there to bare metal if not just sand the heck out of it clean off and re ground and yea maybe the guys at the shop did it so u can keep going back to spend money......

Also if your grounds aren't good as soon as u clean them up and get to bare metal u will hear a difference and see no dimming bro what type of wire did they use???

I would first examine the current battery under the hood. I wouldnt be surprised if it just cant handle the work you are trying to make it do. stock alt is a decent size but depending on the requirements of the factory electrical, it may or may not be enough to supply everything. personally I like making power instead of being able to store power so I suggest ho alts myself before adding batteries.
