Lights in Chevy Silveardo Dimming!

hey guys, I just installed a Alpine Type R 12' Subwoofer with a Kenwood 500 Watt Mono Block amp in my 06 Chevy Silverado! And Its still breaking in but my lights are dimming and I have a Rockford Fost Gate Capciator on it aswell 8 guage wires and 12 guage speaker wire does anyone know what i could do to stop the lights dimming?

Big 3..and ur lights dim with 500 watts? my barely dim pushing 1500rms..and only then when im bumpin hard

I would have your batt and and alt checked for free at a place like autozone. Even if it was 500 RMS watts, your truck should be handling it with no problem

the wire on ur cap should at least be 4 gauge.....what you should do is do the big three in 4 gauge or 1/0....that will help a lot.....and then i would look into a kinetik, optima, powermaster etc......to run under the hood.....the amp does not seem that efficient....is your power wire 8 gauge?

i had the same problem in mine had the big 3 done 150 amp alt and 2 batterys and still dimmed

Its seems Chevys are bad for voltage ( S-10, Silverado )

Cousin has 4 15's and like 600 RMS and his dim really bad

i believe it is an 8 guage wire one the cap! And its a new Ac Delco battery! This is crazy and right now im only running 300 watts RMS due to the sub being new and Im trynin to break it in! Would a new battery work or would just getting four guage wire? Which would probably be best?

If you have high quality power wire (i.e. kicker, stinger, RF, Knu etc.) 8 awg should be fine until you upgrade. A new batt should help some.

bigger alt... chevy alts kinda blow, my cuz has a pretty small memphis amp and his dimmed almost all the way out

You need to move the cap closer to your alternator, it does nothing for your amp but it could help your headlights.

Go over all connections, not just the amp, and make sure they are tight.. Where does he say he has done the big 3 ? I didn't see that.... Maybe the cap is hurting ya ?

I have had at least 6 different chevys and i have not had that problem, even with more wattage..

My guess your lights are dimming because you have a V-6, correct? They dont put very big alternators in V-6 Silverado's if I remember correctly. I could be wrong

big 3 in a silverado makes a huge difference,I used to run

many amps larger than yours and had no dimming after that mod
