Lcd vs plasma.. What one to buy and why??

I own an LCD. But I would say go with a Plasma.

But IMO the room has a big thing to contribute to either LCD or Plasma. Biggest thing I think that's bad about Plasmas is they do not do so good in very bright rooms.

Just an fyi.

I think there is a G15 now too. The only difference between the S1, and G10 is that the G10 is thinner/lighter. Well, pretty much the only difference.
Nope.

S1 is 1080p, up to 65", 3 HDMI

G10 is 1080p up to 54" with THX certification and a few more tuning/calibration options and Viera-cast (some internet connectivity options, watch YouTube, etc.)

G15 is essentially a G10 up to 50" with a thinner top-half (useless?) and some silver strip on the bottom of the front bezel

V10 is up to 65" and is a good step-up in processing from the G-series

Z1 is only available as a 54" and is the absolute top-of-the-line, thinnest most bestedest Panny available.

All the above have the NeoPDP panels and have a fantastic screen. Most differences are in thickness and processing options. Some have better Blu-Ray options like 3:2 pulldown (G10 and above) or true 96Hz refresh allowing true 24fps (V10 and Z1).

I have never heard of a current-generation Panasonic plasma with any buzzing issues... and I made my decision after reading/researching voraciously for at least 6 months prior to purchase. A little OCD on this one, which turned out phenomenally well.

That's lovely. but that can never be objectively reliable. A plasma TV performs very differently at different contrasts while an LCD remains constant. So you'd come up with an innumerable and fundamentally meaningless gob of data for just one comparison, much less and entire market of them.
I'm just giving you advice, i know what i'm talking about. If you just wanna sit hear and brag that you worked in a position similar to a bestbuy salesman, you can go fvck yourself and i'll continue on my way. Plasma TV's are limited to a refresh rate of about 60hz, which is normally fine for most signals unless you are really into gaming or are anticipating 3D technology as much as I am. A 240hz refresh rate blows anything plasma out of the water and gives you the capability to do anything you want.

that was the most false thing youve said in this entire thread lol, and you consider me similar to a BB salesman?? show me proof of LCDs NOT having issues with refresh rates and Panning and your post will be validated.. Until then, lol I guess im off to fvck myself and you'll be on your way , Mr TV man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

yea.. you've mentioned that a few times now?? What do you do ?? are you a professional ? Do you do Pro calibrations? are you an AV wizard? or do you just read alot of fvcking magazines?

Wow... you really are ****ing retarded, aren't you?

You need to go back to super-HDTV-knowledge school... your 240Hz refresh rate is simply interpolating frames into a 60Hz motion picture (at best).... explain how 240Hz is so much better than plasma, why is motion blur on fast-moving content still noticeable and unavoidable on even the highest-end LCDs/LED-backit-LCDs, but is not noticeable at all on plasma?

It's because RESPONSE TIME is a much more important statistic than refresh rate, and plasma response is something around 1000 times faster than LCD (see nanoseconds vs. milliseconds).

its all preference i believe

and how bright the room is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

duh.. I think this is like the 3rd thread this week hes tried to be a master of something but really knws nothing.. the fact he thought a 3:2 pulldown test has nothing to do with the way an image looks is enough alone..

Hes one of the guys that walks into an AV store ( BB in his case ) talks all his BS and when he leaves all the employees laugh at him for thinking hes a know it all

If a room is extremely bright and there will be a LOT of daytime TV/movie use, then I'll often recommend an LCD... can't think of many other situations where the inferior technology of LCD would be preferable to the performance of plasma.

Airport monitors is one possibility... lol

I guess morons will be morons.

oh yea viewing angel of plasma kicks lcd *** as well, so for living room settings the plasma is mo betta
Yea someone tried to say the opposite earlier, but corrected that quick.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

As far as ambient light.. Pft the panel in my 750 has more glare than any lcd ive ever seen.. Anything would be an improvement in bright light situations
