Lcd vs plasma.. What one to buy and why??

I have a panny plasma and that shit rocks. I play ps3 on there all the time, and never had "burn in". I do get IR, or Image Retention for a little while, but it goes away. Plasmas have come a LOOOOOOOOONG way. The life on Plasma is pretty close to the LCDs now. Puts out a little heat, but nothing crazy really.

Just wanted to add. The Image Retention I do get is like VERY faint white outlines you can hardly see on a black screen. This is pretty much the worst you will get any more.

Both of these are 60+ and just under 3k... AVS forums > CA.com for this question though

Samsung PN63B550 63-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P65S1 65-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

to the plasma owners, i hear alot of them have buzzing, truth? and is it distracting? Im not worried about IR or BI, so that should nt be an issue considering ther only game that has a still screen for any amount of time is GH or RB.. Im almost set on the Samsung 58B650, but i hear the new 2010 sammy plasmas are going to be much better . Its the new 6500 series plasma

2010 Samsung 58" 6500 series plasma.

Only 1.4" and clear single glass design.

and maybe less buzz.

get a panasonic plasma. End of story. If you can afford a Pioneer plasma, even better
panasonic is rated higher by Consumer reports, cnet, and all other forms of rating a consumer electonic.

Anything bigger than 32" should be a 1080p plasma, smaller screens you can get by with the lcd. LCD just doesnt work well in the larger screens because it can't produce a true black and on movies like pirates of the caribean on blu ray you can tell.

Panasonic 50" plasma was the top rated tv like 2 years running...

It's not a cut and dry answer...I know people with my exact tv that have a slight buzzing, some have a more annoying louder buzzing. I myself have absolutely NO buzzing...so I guess it's just luck of the draw?

I dont wanna spend more than 2k... almost forgot that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
crap.. I just saw that.. Battleship sunk! I would think your current LCD cost more than that new?

I have one the same size but the LNA950 and I love it :)

My A750 Has near Kuro black levels.. I believe its 3rd on the ratings list for all black levels Plasma AND lcd By quite a few reviewers in the AV world, The processing on the A750s is top notch which is why it has such a great contrat / black level and gray scale colors.. Matched with a SQ01 panel ( which is like glass ) makes the best pq ive seen on a lcd

IS it annoying tho? Last thing i want to hear with a $5,000 HT system is my TV buzzing

Oh yea, I got a steal on mine.. I got it for $2100 shipped with a sammy bd-1600 BR player and a 4 yr in home warranty, While they were still $2699-$2899 in the store

U1, C1, X1, S1, G10 (I think, just off the top of my head)
IMO I would go with the S1.

See now im confused , I thought the g10 was hi end along with the V series, the X is garbage from what ive read

Pretty sure the V series is near the top, thats what I got.

I think there is a G15 now too. The only difference between the S1, and G10 is that the G10 is thinner/lighter. Well, pretty much the only difference.

You didn't read what I said...My TV has absolutely no buzzing. As for the people that I know that have buzzing, I know them online, so I've never been in the presence of their tv's...

If you have the Samsung A Series then I would upgrade. The B series are soon to be outdated and the A Series have been outdated for a year. The technology in tv's advance a tremendous amount in one year. The tv you have now is probaly equal to a very low end modern tv in picture and quality. Pretty much any new model would be an upgrade.

gotcha, baxically like a sammy a750 vs a850.. Why cant they just have a normal ranking system .. g10, s, v g15, etc .. samsung is idiot proof, thats why i like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
