Lcd vs plasma.. What one to buy and why??

Honestly I think your best bet would be to use CNET for the reviews and what not. I'll be looking into getting a 50"+ in about 5 months from now. I'm diggin the hell out of the new Sammy with the color remote that has the TV display on it, but no price as of now and probably going to run 3k+.

There are no true LED tvs

most are LCD with LED type lighting

I think vizio has made a true LED, but i havent seen it for sale.

Truly you cant tell one tv from another in store, and when you get it home, you kinda forget how the other tvs look. And again, the tvs are just pulled out of a box and set on display with no calibration or settings adjusted

I myself really love my Mitsubishi DLP, at first I didnt think I would cuz of the bad reviews. After it was fully calibrated and set up.

WOW!

I paid $1000 for a 60" and people always ask me "how did you get the picture so clear"

so much bad info in here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

the only pannys you would need to worry about go S->G->V

g is the thx certified S series that is calibrated like the 800u or 850 which ever it was, V is their expensive series

those are the 1080p with the neopdp panels

i vote plasma, the only lcd i would want would be a local dimming LED one, but they are costly

Sure as hell don't buy a vizio.....Problems with the audio board are causing buzzing.....And it's driving me NUTS! It is non-existant if you use aftermarket speakers, but it still sucks to pay for something and not have it work correctly.

Panasonic also has some weird humming/buzzing noises.

thinking something like this..
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN58B650-58-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B001W6NU9Y

My led/lcd knowledge is pretty good, but my plasma knowledge is not so much.. So any suggestions?
Do it...I have this one

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN50B530-50-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B0024NL4CE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1263312734&sr=1-1

And it's amazing. The first tv I had was a 42" Vizio LCD and it was just ok...the contrast was really lacking, the blacks were more like greys which really pissed me off, so I returned it. I got a sweet deal on my new Samsung Plasma and I just love it. The contrast and black levels are just fantastic. I do get some IR occasionally (note I said IR and not burn in) but it goes away fairly quickly. And I only get it because I like to play videogames so I have a lot of static images on it...

hmm ive got a Sony 46" LCD and am having tons of problems with it.

I hear plasmas use alot more enrgy than LCDs, but im thinking of selling my LCD and getting a plasma as well... you cant beat the size to price ratio of a plasma..

50" for $650 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

i dont even know what calibration is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

lol, are you talking about mine? I wouldn't use that as a base point for the price of plasmas...Mine was a pricing error remember?

i have a sony bravia lcd only 32" but i love it. i cant do plasma because of the glare (that is one of my pet peeves seeing windows in the background and such...). My only issue is i see like a double picture for some reason like a faint shadow slightly to the right...i think its my cable because i dont see it when watching tv or playing ps3
