lawl local car audio shop owner is a d-bag

The only thing that is worse than the dealer's who know little is the internet guys who go in there thinking they know all. Why do people go into dealer's to tell them that they won't pay that price and their product is crap?
Neil
If that was directed at me you have no idea what you are talking about.

The two local dealers claim:

-4 w1v2's 12's hit a 157 in a daily tuned box

-$1/watt is still the standard

-Alpine has the best head units

-SoloX18 is worth $1300

-Prefab boxes are just as good as any custom one

-Caps do something for a weak electrical system

-battery before alternator in a daily set up, cost isnt factored into that.

-brand of power wire makes a difference

-Can only hit low 160's on the AC with 60 10" w0's

backs that up by saying "it is only 50w a speaker"

-there is no better subwoofer than the w7

-passive front stage is just as good as an active set up

-componets high on the doors gives the best sound stage, this puts the speakers close to the ears so sound detail isnt lost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

-McIntosh units are no better than high end alpine for SQ, even better in some aspects.

-sedans are louder than hatches

that is just a few off of the top of my head. PM Shawn Flemming about the lake city Audiowaves and SoundCitation.

And I never said their product is crap, I said it isnt worth what they think they can charge me...just because 70% of the kids who walk in there have mommey and daddy's check book backing whatever they want doesnt mean everyone has that.

iam in favor of retail shops! where else am i gonna go hear what the new speakers sound like before i go and buy them on the internet..lol I went today and wow 1/0kicker dual amp kit was 179.99+tax. I just bought one on Ebay for 72.99 with free shipping
72.99 is below dealer cost, tell me how an authorized B&M is supposed to sell for below dealer? This type of thing is what is giving B&Ms a bad name and forcing us out of business. With my overhead at the store we need at least a 40% profit margin on things to keep open the doors. That translates into a 68% markup on products. So even if a dealer could get the kit for 72.99 he would need to sell it for 123. And Msrp on the Kicker dual amp 1/0 awg part#05pkd1 is 199.95. But still the dealer is looked at as a crook for selling under MSRP:uhoh: .

Well when kicker loses all the B&Ms that have been loyal to them, and then has to rely on CC and the web I guarantee you will see Kickers product go to the level of sony explode. You think they are still gonna make Solo Xs and 2500.1s for CC and the net, LMAO. Guys like you will kill off quality specilaty products for SPL and the like because there will not be a market. No B&Ms means no host for local DB Drag and other sanctioned soundoffs= No market..

Not to start an argument but there are many specialty high-end car audio manufacturers that produce specifically for those on the net. Fi Audio, IA, etc for instance sell most of their products over the net. Some of those companies don't even want to have dealer networks and they are profitable and appeal to the high end SPL market.

If Kicker isn't stupid, they better understand that they need to market to those who buy over the internet. I think they should embrace the change not reject it. If they reject it, kicker will be the one losing out, not the consumer.

As for local hosts, I have been to 10 or 20 shows but never at a shop. Until recently, I didn't even know shops hosted them.

Okay so iam responsable for the death of kicker:eyebrow: the guy had one kit that he sold to me for cheap so spare the sob story just because i saved me some money I DONT FEEL BAD about it. I do go retail shops for alot of things.. i just happen to come across a great deal. F**k you have a nice day

Im all for local dealers who know what they are talking about, and feel they can still maintain their business while being honest to their customers. Unfortunately, those a few and far between, it seems.

i live in a small city so not too many shops are honest because they each sell different brands so they dont have any competition and this is a millitary town so they sucker them real esay which is why i only go to one shop in town and use the internet..but i stand up for the garage boys like myself that do installs and help people find a good system for no money but just because they like to find a good deal and install for the heck of it

I think you are really underestimating the roles of B&Ms in sponsoring and hosting comps. Just because a B&M does not host in their parking lot that doesnt mean that they are not involved other ways. FI and IA can sell all they want online but if their was no sanctioned events I dont think those guys would be around selling those products. IA amps and FI BTLs are not designed for highend SQ nor low end daily beating, and that is what market would be left without your sanctioned SPL events. You would have a market for people that didnt care about quality(the vast majority) and then a market for people who just want the best regardless of price(very small), no market for good moderatly priced products.

I would have to argue that the SSD from Fi is moderatly price/performance from what I have used.

You also seem to think that everyone competes. Some companies make amps with no intention of competing. Like Sundown for instance. Good, solid amps, but no intention for competing (that I know of) Just good, high quality, daily driver products. I don't see that market disappearing; there are too many enthusiasts who are willing to spend $5-600 for an amp and $300 per sub for all the companies in the world to quit making them.

If there was enough money in it, there would be sanctioned shows anywhere. I don't think all the hosts are doing it for the money.

I agree that you may kill the middle market...maybe. I think you will do more damage to the companies that focus on that middle market. And why can't kicker intentionally sell online? Besides supplies, I don't really have the need to go to a B & M store.

Sorry man, It is just frustrating hearing "I can get this for XXX dollars online, yall can kiss my ***" 4 times everyday. I dont blame you from buying online, it is cheaper, I cant fault you for that. It just sucks that dealers get such a bad rap on this board. All you guys would probably think I was trying to rip you off if you seen the prices in my store, but I assure you that isnt the case. And I would never down another product unless I new it was for sure inferior. I am a kicker dealer but I was also a RE dealer before they went mainstream and I still am. I have always tried to give my customers the best options. Sorry if I came across to strong earlier.

its alright i used to work at a Import Performance Shop back in the day that went out of buisness due to the internet. I felt bad for the owner who was like a uncle to me but he charged to much and his distributors charged him too much. Like you said you cant blame the consumer for going online. I wasnt braggin or anything i didnt even know what the retail was for the kicker kit i was just in awe when i realized how much money i saved that all...Good Luck with you shop though

Yeah, in my opinion the fault lies with componies like kicker. They still offer quanity discounts that small companies cant touch. This entices some B&Ms to tranship, this makes the problem worse. In the internet age I dont think quanity discounts should be offered, the world is to small now. If kicker sold to everyone at the same price I could likely compete with the internet, I mean there are a few things I cant offer that the net cant(over the counter exchanges are nice, or at least that what my customers say). But when I talk to Kikcer World HQ they still say "we dont know how these guys on ebay are getting our product. But I personally shutdown a few sellers last week" Yeah right. It sucks being a authorized dealer direct and having to meet QTY buyins to stay authorized and then seeing unauthorized sellers selling for the same prices I buy it for.
