hes and idoit, i had the owner of a shop around here tell me the same things and every comeback he had was a bout how great and mhow much better JL is than anything you would inquire about.and that was becasue he was the only K: dealer within 40-60 miles of here. but that shop is now out of business, kuz he is *** went bankrupt kuz he didnt deal and people stoped buying from him. i went in there one day with $400 cash and he wouldnt sell me a 500/1 when he was selling them for $530.

So in conclusion, you're saying the guys a douche because you walked in, not knowing him on a personal level, and expected him to say "here's 150 bucks off the best shit I have" and because he didnt he's a douche? Cmon man, they have to make their money somewhere too, and although probably overpriced it's still theirs. If you dont wanna pay their price buy it only, but I dont see you talking about going in Best Buy or Circuit City and complaining because they wouldnt give you a Comp VR for 75 instead of 125...

And on a serious note, that shop owner is not COMPLETELY stupid, he's just a bit impartial. He's one of those business owners who believes solely in the fact that you should buy it from a shop and that's the only way you should buy it, it's because the internet hurts him.

let me guess a kicker reseller? I have one here that once told me the L7 will eat up any RE sub in SPL no question about it, and the SQ was better than the brahma.

I buy almost all my stuff on the internet. A relative of mine owns a fairly high end car audio shop - he will sell me stuff at the same price as internet, but doesn't carry the stuff I like. He pushes Morel, Focal, etc. I do buy my alpine stuff from him.

He says the internet has cut his business so much that if he didn't enjoy the work, and own the building he would have closed up shop. He said that people come in all the time, listen to his board and talk to his people. Then they come in with the same equipment that they bought somewhere else and ask him for install advice - at which time he brushes them off. Luckily for him a lot of people just drop off the vehicle and tell him to keep it for a couple of weeks and go crazy.

I find this thread rather funny. Not because it is surprising how ignorant the shop installer is but because how you speculate and compare products which have two different goals in mind.
