lawl local car audio shop owner is a d-bag

hes and idoit, i had the owner of a shop around here tell me the same things and every comeback he had was a bout how great and mhow much better JL is than anything you would inquire about.and that was becasue he was the only K: dealer within 40-60 miles of here. but that shop is now out of business, kuz he is *** went bankrupt kuz he didnt deal and people stoped buying from him. i went in there one day with $400 cash and he wouldnt sell me a 500/1 when he was selling them for $530.
He would have gone bankrupt faster trying to sell product for dealer to 10% over dealer at a B&M. B&Ms have alot of overhead.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Dealers are not trying to rip people off, we are just trying to keep our doors open. You must realize that most equipment online is sold at or below dealer. How are we suppossed to compete with that and still look good to you guys. It is very frustrating.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

And to you guys who say screw local dealers, or I only go in their to look at product, you are only making it worse. Car audio is were it is today because of small B&Ms. Most B&Ms got started by guys like us that enjoyed the hobby, not to rip people off. In a few years it is gonna be hard to find B&Ms, the internet will take over. When this happens you can kiss your local comps goodbuy. There will be no one to host them. Then the highend mobile SQ/SPL manufacturers will decline because the only B&Ms will be CC and BB. They are not gonna push highend products. There may come a point in the not so distant future when sony Xplode may be considered highend because they have no competiton. Companies like Atomic, IA, RE, DD,and other manufactures of highend SPL products will have no market. NO comps mean no market. Smll B&Ms are still the meat of this industry but the internet will be the indusries downfall.

I mean there are some good shops out there and some bad. there are definately places where they are trying to rip you off. I went to this shop right by my work trying to buy the PAC TR-7 video bypass. I asked the guy if he had one in stock, he goes looking for it and comes back with one. i ask how much he says $70. I'm like GTFO, you can get that shit one ebay for $25 shipped. So i tell him that in a nicer fashion and he says he won't go any lower than $40. I'm like i'm out. so as i was walked back to my car, one of the installers i guess overheard the conversation and said he'd sell it to me for $30 and i took it, lol.

I think the B & M industry is just now being effected by globalization and a more flat economy. If you can't compete, then you close up shop. The 21st century is not about the corporation, it is about the individual. I doubt very seriously that high end audio will disappear. You will always have small firms like the IA, RE, DD. If high end audio should be afraid of anything, it should be DEI.

If there were no internet, I don't think there would be an IA, DD, RE, etc, etc. The companies are not hindered by the internet, only proliferated by it. Because I am an internet user, I am exposed to brands not carried by my local B&M. Furthermore, I would much rather shop online than in person anyway because B & M have bankers hours whereas online is always open.

I do agree with you that it is unfair for customers to test your equipment then buy it online. But at Lowe's we have comparison shoppers everyday. We had comparison shoppers in the 40s opened our 1st store, we have comparison shoppers as we head into Canada. I think the future for B & M is not try and compete in a field where they are disadvanatged. You should focus your efforts on services, not products. As China develops, you won't be able to compete with internet pricing...and neither will most firms.

idk bout you guys, but here in Detroit we have a place called Gibralter Trade Center (kind of like Ebay, only no shipping costs) and there is about 3 or 4 shops in there that sell car audio at the same prices that you can find it on the net. Only problem with it is that they dont carry alot of high end products. e.g. Orion

The local shop here will sell over MSRP without hesitation, will cut a huge chunk of change off if you have cash in hand and tries to make everyone that walks in feel like an idiot....which is why I go there to make the employees feel like idiots when they try to feed me BS.

Our local shop only sells JL and no other brand. They do sell supplies, which I buy but the guy tells me I am wasting my money and reduce sound quality because I use speaker wire harnesses so i don't cut into my friends existing wiring. I wish they would build a Best Buy close. No service = no one to mess with my when I buy supplies.

The only thing that is worse than the dealer's who know little is the internet guys who go in there thinking they know all. Why do people go into dealer's to tell them that they won't pay that price and their product is crap?

It's perfectly acceptable to come into a business and say, "I found this at this price at store x, can you match the price?" Simple yes or no. It may get old after 100 times per day, but it also gets old hearing comments I hear 100 times per day. It is retail.

I agree the comments just to **** with a store owner is wrong but the store owner shouldnt talk if they dont know either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I have more respect for the guy if he says I really dont know on that that gimme a bullshit story i know is wrong.

iam in favor of retail shops! where else am i gonna go hear what the new speakers sound like before i go and buy them on the internet..lol I went today and wow 1/0kicker dual amp kit was 179.99+tax. I just bought one on Ebay for 72.99 with free shipping
