Largest 12in Type R speaker wire size?

The amount of power your running to that type R and the length of the wire, your not going to see/hear a gain switching from 12 to 8 gauge. MAYBE a .1dB, but even that may be doubtful.

Ha.

Since I have about 2000ft of it, I ran 12 gauge to all my speakers.

Was a pain fitting it to the terminals though.

However, unless you're getting a really big sub, 12 gauge will be fine for pretty much any basic system.

what is the largest wire size u can give to 2 12in alpine type r with no prob cuz right now i use 12ga speaker wire i was thinkin bout 8ga?????
How far is the "Type R" from the amp? If it's over 800 feet, I'd suggest going to 10 gauge.

Thread hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-JACK! Is 16 gauge too small for a sub getting 800 watts?
Possibly. If you're talking about a 3 foot run, it's probably not an issue.

I would run 12 gauge only because it's cheap and available, but if it's only a short distance I doubt you'll know the difference.

If you're running say 20 feet out of it, you'll probably have an increase in resistance. It will depend on your amp if that matters, as well as possible heat build up in the wire, but most likely you won't notice it either way.

I'd still run 12 gauge, just because it's cheap enough these days. I think 50 feet is about $25US on amazon.
