laptop and 2.1 setup, need help, NOOB!!!

ok, im gettin a laptop and wanted some decent sound. Im going for a 2.1 setup, something cheap, using these and this for the sub and sub amp. My question is, do i have to get a receiver or can i run the speaker amp and the powered subwoofer amp off of the audio out on my laptop, like a 3.5mm to rca cable? The amps should have a crossover built into them so i can just split the signal and send it to each amp cant i?
