kx2500 going into protect..

I have two things of 8 guage going into the ground on the amp. Not just 1. That is because I ran out of four guage. I will have 0 guage by the end of the week. Anyways I just found a post k4rts made when he had the amp and it was doing the same thing for him.

Well with my electrical sysystem I'm hoping it will be just about right for two L5s. I sent k4rts a money request on paypal about 30 minutes ago. Once I receive it I am going to order another kx2500.

that was when i had the subs wired wrong.
[replying to other thread] had the gains down because they were overpowering SSD's and i didnt want to blow them.
The amp works just fine with me too with the gains turned down. So your saying once you got your subs wired correctly you could crank the volume and gain up and it wouldn't go into protect?

once the subs were wired correctly, i could crank it about 3/4 way then it went into protect because of my low voltage. i added an extra optima and that did the trick. have you checked the amp with a dmm? have you checked your voltage? also if you dont have 1/0 wire id highly suggest it. the same thing is going to happen if you decide you want to send my amp back to me and get someone elses. its either your voltage drop or your subs are wired incorrectly.

I am going to take your word for right now. I have some 0 guage wire on the way. I am going to have 0 guage all the way from the battery into the kx2500. Then 0 guage for ground wire. Hopefully that will fix the problem. Just dont disregard that money request yet.

Its your voltage. If your running low 11's with the hifonics amp then your ****ed. The kicker amp will draw way more power than the hifonics and your gonna go into protect everytime it starts to draw any noticable power. Reason you said there wasnt a noise difference is because its probably drawing about the same amount as the hifonics before going into protect due to lack of voltage. Get your shit right its not k4rts fault
Alright buddy boy.

1. Read my very first post on this thread

2. Go here: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200926

3. Read k4rts post on his thread

4. Notice how each post is VERY similar.

If you were in the same situation you would think the exact same thing. Dont even lie to yourself.

those 200A fuses could also be part of the problem. you got two 300A on the way though. good luck!
I noticed someone else said something about the fuses. How would that change anything? When are the fuses suppose to be here? Thanks.

lady didn't tell me when they'd get there, but probably 2-3 days. the fuses wont put it into protect, but they can blow if the amp draws more than 200A of current.

our USACi competitors all used 2500's or two strapped KX12001's on their L5's

I used a 25001 daily on ported 12 L5's.

I just remembered, you're saying it goes into protect when you turn the volume up but its fine at low volumes?

Same thing happened to me when i tried to run 4 zx2500.1's @ 1 ohm each off of 2 batteries daily. it would be fine but i couldnt turn it up all the way or else 2-3 of the amps would hit protect. Make sure your electrical system is up to par to handle the amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Crap son, you are running a 2500+ watt amp off 4 gauge (and 8 gauge) wire, a stock alt, and only 1 battery?

What did you expect to happen? The amp is fine. You need to beef up that electrical system BIG TIME.

I can get my zx2500 to kick into protection mode when I'm burping the amp with the car off (2 batteries, 4 runs of 1/0), but when I turn the car on, I have no problems at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
