Yeah I really dont think there is anywhere to put an extra battery.I hope we can find a place tomorrow for an extra battery, so far i dont see it happening, i would say he needs at least 2 batteries and yes definately a 200 amp alt would do the trick. We will see what happens with the 0 gauge, im almost positive his voltage has got to be horrible.
Yea, that's a good idea. [no sarcasm]Well first thing we did was just measured my voltage. It never dropped below 11 volts. So next we got some 0 guage wire and made a new ground. Tried it again. It improved the voltage by a tad but it was still kicking into protect. So we decided to put the amp in aarons truck (200 amp alternator, and two extra batteries). It play absolutely fine. Weird thing is though his voltage actually dropped as low as mine did. But it didn't go into protect one time.
We were freezing and he was about to have to leave so we called it a night. I am going to hook it up to a buddys system tomorrow. He has a solo x but no amp yet. He has the just 4 guage wire and stock everything but I am going to see what it does in his. If it works with his then there is just something wrong with my car lol. The next thing I am going to try is taking my cap off. I dont know if that would make a difference or not but you never know.
Could that make a difference you think? Thats really the only other thing that we could think of. Escpecailly now that I'm reading alot of people were running them off smaller alts than I have.Yea, that's a good idea. [no sarcasm]
Yeah. Now just gotta figure out why its not workin in mine.regardless, the amp is fine. So you got a good amp and weren't shafted. Whether or not it works in your car, its not the amp.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
11.8-12.0 is TERRIBLE voltage, don't kid yourself.I dont see it being the amp at all. Like he said, we hooked it up to my one 15" in my ride and it worked great, pounded hard. But the voltage did drop just like in his ride to around 11.3 once in a while. In both mine and his the voltage was sufficient being around 11.8-12.0 volts on every note, which was decent. When his would enter protect, it would only do so for a second or two on a really high note, more like a real lite clip. I think if you take the cap off of it, get the 0 gauge ran and a good short 0 gauge ground, you will be fine. I dont understand why when it clipped, the voltage wouldnt drop near as much as some deep notes? It was kind of strange. A very odd situation for sure.
It's not good to run the amp on that low of voltage. And yes, I'm well aware that cold affects batteries. I've done testing in my 15 degree garage for the past 3 days getting ready for a show at the end of the month. Not too bad for 20 degree weather. You know cold does affect batteries dont you? And after streetbeating it for around 2-3 minutes, thats not that bad bro.
