Know how to drive?

People just do not understand the concept of "Keep right unless passing". In a 2 way highway, if there is space for you in the right lane and you are not catching up to the tail of the car in that lane, STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE. The left lane is not the FAST lane, it's the PASS lane. When I'm on the freeway, there should be no reason, zero reason for me to have to hit the brakes unless there is traffic. Same should apply to everyone else. I do not understand why they do not stress this in drivers ed. It would seriously benefit drivers, and provide safer driving conditions. You know why speed is a concern on the highway? Because dumbasses force those speeders to brake. That's not to say that the speeder is "right" in the situation, but neither is the other individual.

People are self-centered. And once they sit down in that metal exoskeleton we call a car, they feel they are insulated enough from people to act however they want with very few, if any, consequences? Again, much like how people act differently when they are semi-anonymous on the internet.
A large SUV or truck with a front replacement will fix this symptom.

That happened to my father when I was younger. We were slowing down to make a left turn and the person behind us was apparently too impatient to wait so they tried to pass us on the left. My father started to turn and wham, we connected. Oddly enough I believe it was my father who was cited and even though he fought it in court, he lost. I don't remember exactly why though.
Sounds like technically he turned into her. Stupid I know, because she was in a lane she really shouldn't have been, but he was probably cited for entering into a traffic lane she had already established as hers. Even if his argument that he had signaled to occupy that lane previously had legal merit (it certainly does logically and morally), she could have simply argued that the turn signal was not turned on until she had already moved to pass.

Guessing.

People are self centered pricks. This becomes glaringly obvious in two places, on the internet, and on the road.
The funny thing is, I'm selfish and courteous at the same time on the road. I hold the mentality that I own the road, but at the same time I am respectful when someone deserves respect. If you're doing 50 in a 60 in the left lane of the highway, I'll keep a normal distance, slow down to your speed, and flash my brights for one millisecond. If you don't move over and have the opportunity to, I'll flash my brights again and give a hand signal akin to those guys with the light sticks at airports directing a plane. If you still don't get the point, I'll move closer to your tail, and pass if possible. I don't escalate beyond this point.

I'm not sexist at all cept when it comes to driving. Yes women can not drive. Every one of them I've been in a car with I end up asking how they make it day to day without any accidents. Usually they get defensive and tell me they've only had 1/0 accidents tickets. (like that means they know how to drive) I usually end up reminding them that they may not have been in many accidents, but I've witnessed them almost cause about 3 in the last 5 minutes. My last GF changed lanes in the middle of the intersection on a highway. Some guy was making a right turn and starting to turn into the right lane. GF had to swerve around them and she started calling them a dumba$$, I had to remind her that you should never change lanes in the middle of an intersection.
This is so true! Women don't get in many accidents, they CAUSE many accidents. The reason why women are terrible drivers is because they don't care about driving. I am a firm believer that there is a direct correlation between how much you care about your driving and how good of a driver you are. Every second I drive, I am simultaneously analysing my surroundings, looking ahead and behind, watching my speed and path along the lane I'm in, and critiquing my driving abilities. I constantly strive for improvement, and am open to learning new things. I know I am an excellent driver, but I also know that I'm not the best, and it's my obligation to become the best.

Most people don't actually drive anymore, they just react to what's going on around them. The car in front of them goes faster, they go faster, the car in front of them slows, they slow. They're not going fast enough, they change lanes, regardless of others around them. Audioholic is correct, this all stems to people being self centered pricks. If people actually gave a fuck about others, they'd drive a lot more sensibly.
EDIT: Racing from stoplight to stoplight is one of my favorites... People wonder why they get such shitty gas mileage. Maybe if they took it a little easier on the skinny pedal it wouldn't be so bad. Next time you're at the front of a line of cars at a stop light accelerate hard and watch the dumb bitch out accelerate you just because that's how people drive. Also, I guarantee if you pay attention, you'll find that 90% of other drivers are constantly on the phone when they drive.
Again, VERY true. I like the way you put it...They don't drive, they just react. That's exactly how women drive.

And with the racing from stoplight-to-stoplight issue...Women accelerate hella hard from a stop, and then come to a constant speed that is usually at or below the limit. People like me who know how to drive accelerate at a constant rate up to the speed that the road SHOULD be (not that that's a requirement, it's just part of my driving personality). I told my mom about this, when she was wondering why I get so much better gas mileage driving her car than she does (it has an average mpg gauge).

This might just be me but I get annoyed by the people going 65mph in the middle lane of a highway. It's just stupid, it's like as soon as a highway goes from 2 to 3 lanes they think they instantly have to drive in the middle lane. So then you have a million people clogging up the center lane making it more difficult to get to the other side of the highway. And in the case where you get someone going that speed in the fast lane you now have shoot all the way across the highway to get around them (since the far right lane seems to always be deserted on 3 lane highways).

idk, nothing illegal about it, just annoys me, lol

I saw an idiot on the road yesterday. 2-way road, with a third lane in the center for turning (shared turning lane for traffic in both directions). Someone in a little toyota had pulled into the center lane to make a left turn, and was so timid that they didnt pull all the way into the lane so they weren't so close to on-coming traffic. Being extra careful, right? Well this meant the ass of their car was still stick back out into traffic moving in the direction they were, so people had to slow way down, and veer onto the shoulder and end of someone's driveway to get around them. I was surprised I didnt see someone get rear ended as I made my way thru the half block long jam up it was causing.

The kid is kinda half retarted and never listens. Plus I'm not that type of guy who is a backseat driver, I juss let him be and soon enough he will get pulled over. He's 20 now. Im suprised he hasnt gotten a ticket since he started driving at 16.
The best thing I ever did was crash the first car I owned. That really kicked me into gear. My dad straight up told me "YOU ARE A HORRIBLE DRIVER!" All I could think was...CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. Ever since then, I learned how to become an aggressive, but safe driver. It was a prime example of the idea of learning from your mistakes. If ever I have done so in my life, it was in that given scenario.

I agree noone knows that they are called "Acceleration/Decceleration" ramps for a reason. You are supposed to merge "at speed"
THIS^^^^^^^^^^

Goes back to the idea of "Keep right unless passing". It's a little difficult to apply in said circumstance, not that it's an exception. I would rather they crowd up the right lane of the 2 lane then crowd up both lanes. Same goes in the 3 lane, crowding the middle lane.

I believe a more generalized blanket statement could be "People are self centered pricks. This becomes glaringly obvious when anonymity can be assured."

I think I know what you are getting at Holic. People in the inside lanes are scared of the oncoming median divider so they turn extra wide into the outside lane, or people in the outside lane push others into the opposing traffic on the other side of the median divider. Typically, it's only the former.

Just as much as I hate women, I hate old people. They think that their experience makes them a better driver, yet they don't realize that the lack of speed is equally as dangerous as excess speed. The majority of old people are very disrespectful on the road, they try and "teach everyone a lesson", while they blow stoplights and get rear ended because their age affects their reaction timing, attentiveness, and judgement. Sure, in some cases they are absolutely doing what is right, such as driving the speed limit (NOT UNDER IT LIKE HALF OF THEM DO), and using their turn signals. But in most cases, they are just begging to get rear ended by going under the speed limit.

DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ASIANS. Lord have mercy on your soul if you spot and Old Asian Woman driver on the road.

Very true. There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. A truly standout individual knows how to be as confident as possible without being arrogant. Arrogance can affect your driving style just as much as it affects your social abilities (or inabilities if you will).

I think they're should be a re-occurring drivers exam. Like when you need to renew your license (every 4 years right?) you should have to take an in-vehicle test with an instructor. I mean, how logical is it to think that my grandfather, who's like 80 years old and has dementia still has a valid drivers license? Just because he was a good driver when he was 16 doesn't mean he's still one...

I lived in Florida for 12 years, the old people on the road down there are scary bad drivers. No where is the senior citizen voting power more obvious than in their ability to keep their driving restrictions and testing so lenient.
