Kappa Perfect or Type R??

Hey guys. I've been lurking around here for a while now, and I have to say that this site has taught me a lot. It's a great site. I think that it's about time to start planning on upgrading my system.

My question is which 10" DVC woofers you all think are better. Infinity Kappa Perfects or Alpine Type Rs. I have the chance through my work to get either one for an insane price. I am going to get two and run them in a ported box. If you have any suggestions about amps, that would also be appreciated.

My vehicle is a 2006 4Runner.

I would definitely go with the type-r's... put enough power on them and they will SLAM!

What are the benefits or the Type Rs over the Perfects? I am going for SQ by the way. What amp would be able to power both? I am really only able to get one amp right now.

the type r will preform much better than the kappas will in a ported box and will take more power also. now in a sealed box, as far as sq is conserned, the kappas will preform excellent. i have to be honest, ive never herd the typr r in a sealed set up before but the kappas i have. for your ported box, imo the r's are the choice.

In my old accord I had the kappa perfects in a large sealed box. It was the ones with the different peices that slid in and out of the magnet(i forgot what they called them). I set it up so that there was no peace in the magnet so that it would for a bigger sealed box. They sounded good, where loud, and hit way low. I was happy with them for the most part.

But soon I sold them to a buddy and got 2 type-rs, and let me tell you, they hit way cleaner, I thought the sq was supieroir. The other guys I worked with at the time thought they sounded alot better, and without a doubt they hit harder and got just as low as the perfects. Go Type R for sure. I had them running off of a fosgate 800x2, and it pushed them plenty well.

R's arent meant for SQ, they are meant for street beating..and if you really know what you're doin, Competitions....For the price of the kappas you could find something much better.. go to the SUbwoofer forum and searcdh around

Thanks guys. I was planning on the Type R's, I just wanted some opinions. And since I can get the 10s for 75 a piece BNIB, I'm very happy.

Any suggestions on amps?

if you get the R's...make sure you don't buy a prefab box for it... any amp with 700-1000 RMS will be great.

Yea you never want to buy a pre-fab ported box. Sealed you can get away with, but ported will more than likely sound like shat.
