I think I get it. the gain is to make up for the difference in pre-out voltage ie: 2 volt/4 volt?

clipping is from over-accomodating and the amp can't produce enough power to keep the signal clean?

i dont think it will blow since im not gonna turn it all the way up on my HU i stay at 0 on the bass boost it goes up to 6 and i usually am around three fourths or less on bass boost when i want some noise for rap and at rock im under half

o and me and my buddy are buying a DMM so im gonna set it up like it needs to be will someone please post a link of somewhere that will run like a video tutorial on how to do this
