Use the volume calculator to have enough volume for sub and port displacement along with the desired airspace. Use 2 3inch aeroports or pvc if you're on a tight budget

type-r's ususally can get away with smaller boxes than that. Ive sold hundreds of them and heard them in a vast amount of different boxes, im referring to the early 2000s ones tho

My experience with that version Type R has been with a slightly larger than average enclosure. The model that OP listed came out around 2006, the early 2000s had the smooth surround.

I would examine the sub for a saggy spider as it's close to 11 years old and was most likely abused it's whole life, given that most Type R owners don't have a clue when it comes to car audio.

yeah, ive seen some super abused type-r's too, but i have heard a pair in a custome box that was .66 cu/ft per and it sounded awesome on two m500's. We're talking 2002ish, but yeah. They were pretty good for back in the day stuff

Good ol' Type R's. I remember when they where the forum boner around here. Everybody wanted one. People were getting sick numbers with them though.
