Alright guys, i just installed my 2 amps, (2 channel bridged mono for my sub, and 4 channel for my 4 speakers)

I ran 2 seperate power wires, 8-gauge for 4 channel, 4 guage for 2 channel amp) My 2 channel sub amp is fine.

Now my problem is with my 4 channel amp. I have settings on my amp that allow me to change the levels of the front speakers and back speakers like making the voice or words of the songs louder. When my engine is off, im just playin music everything sounds fine. But when i turn my engine on, a humming sound comes from the speakers. If i turn the settings up on the amp the humming sound gets louder, but if i turn the main volume up on my hu nothing changes. If i make it low enough on my amp so u cant hear the humming sound, its so low that you cant hear the words.

Please guys.. somebody help me, i have no clue what to do, or what it is.

U are lucky, but that isnt always the case anyways, but at least if u get engine noise u know what to do
ive done it several times with zero issues.

double check your grounds and make sure they fit the following criteria:

1. they are tight - if you can pull them loose they are no good.

2. they are clean - no paint, grease, dirt, rust ect. CLEAN BARE METAL is what you want

3. there is alot of surface area - a nice GOOD crimp with a ring terminal and a bolt\self tapping screw and a star-washer between the ring terminal and the metal [make sure you dont screw through anything you dont want a hole in too]

4. as short as possible - the longer you go, the more likely you are to have issues

so see if all that checks out and let us know. and you cant rule out equipment being faulty too. i troubleshot for hours only to find out that the headunit was bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

My RCAs are ran on the same side. So on tuesday im going to take them out and run them on the opposite side. See if that works. Ill also check the ground wires, and make sure there tight. I have the 2 amps and cap all grounded at the same spot. My cap ground wire is kind of long, like 19inches or something, would u think thats the problem?

But remember, this only happens when the engine is running, so most likely it would be the RCA's. Correct?

if u ran your rcas on the same side as either one of your pwer wires that is your problem, u get engine noise when u run rcas and power wires together
Thats a myth. I have tun my RCA's next to my power cable for the longest time. and I have 0 inducted noise. Basically the lead cause for engine/alternator whine (inducted noise) is a poor ground. To get inducted noise by running your RCA cable next to your power cable is to have piss poor RCAs with almost zero shielding.

where are the amps grounded too, also ditch the cap, that might be part of your problem.
