Smoke everywhere. It was a 6.5 JL audio VR comp, just the woofers. Both of them. I was playing test tones from 40 to 99 hz and bammo, smoke filled car. I ripped one apart and the coil is just black. I guess I know not to give em that much juice from now on.... good thing I have the xr 3 way set on the way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't get it, I had them high passed at 57 hz and it was still playing 40 hz?

Oh well, once the 3 way gets here, I am taking it all to the shop, a real shop, not a get you in and get you out shop, to have them install and RTA everything. THen... I am not ****ing with it anymore. I just seem to wreck stuff, but I like to mess with it soooo much.

Oh well.

57 is still too low, i have mine crossed at 100

What are your subds crossed at? And what size are your subs? It seems the higher I cross my subs over, the less I like the way they sound. If I crossed my midbass over at 100, what would I cross my subs over at to fill the gap? I have 2 12" Jl 12w6v2's

the crossover point isnt where the woofer stops playing. thats y theres a 12/24db per octave rollof.

edit: so its okay to cross them over a little bit higher. i would do around 80 ish
