JL XR's vs Alpine Type X comps

It's just hard to go with it without hearing them, you know?

Anyone within 45 mins of Newnan, GA willing to meet me somewhere that has a set of CDT's? 30263

I could pitch in 5-10 bucks for gas if you like, possibly

this thread is perfect as i am debating the exact same thiong. I have been really unimpressed by all the comp sets i have owned as none of them even with 100+w rms running to them really got very loud. Now i havn't heard the type x's and would love to hear what you think after hearing them.

Work on 100w? I've gotta find some reviews

Price?

*Note* - Once again it falls under the category that I've never heard them and I don't know chit about them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The Oz 180s work with 100W. I have seen these before and they were able to produce some very solid midbass... but the setup the guy had was horrid. Super cheap jensen amp and less than lamp cord (aka 18AWG) to power them. Oz Audio is a good company, just not a mainstream company you would find in a major retail store.

Oh yeah, the ZRs can get very loud by themselves. We're talking concert "hurt your ears" type levels. Not to mention they sound pretty fantastic while doing it.

I have the type X componets in my car for around 2 months now. They sound very good and clear. When I fist got these, they didnt sound so good. Me not understanding passive crossovers to well I decided to take it to my buddy, how I thought could help me out. Well he worked on them for a while and he couldnt even get them set up right. So I finally found someone with experiecne with passive crossovers and got them hooked up right. Have to say I am mighty impressed with these. They are the 5.25 spx177 set. They give off ok mid bass but the tweet is very loud and clean. I also picked my set up for under 200 bills, so felt like I couldnt lose. Just make sure you know what you are doing when you hook them up if you get them. The crossover is crazy! Good luck on what ever you get.

PS I would let you hear mine but I am not driving down past Georgia in this liftime.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

How many watts is that alpine?
60W x 5 RMS (2ohm;@14.4V 1% THD+N)

45W x 5 RMS (4ohm;@12V 1% THD+N)

The MRA-D550 is Alpine's 5.1 theater amp. I wanted it for the processing. I care only about how it sounds inside the car. I am not really a SPL guy.

Do you have AIM?
No, don't really have a need for it.
