JL Audio W6v3 Vs Alpine type X I2” subwoofer

I’m looking at buying either of these subs. Which would be the better sub? They work out around the same price once I factor in the alpine needing the more powerful expensive amp.
I’m after good sq, very clean bass that’s punchy for my large SUV. I listen to mostly techno/house music

I'd like to see that shootout. I miss the old magazine articles where they rounded up 5 or 6 of the best 12 inch subs or 300 watt amps and ran them through their paces. Them were the good ole days.

Ugh hate to not answer your question but for the money and since you haven’t made your purchase.....neither. I’d buy a ssa or sundown if I was going to buy expensive gear

Interesting. The W6 is significantly more expensive over on this side of the world. Really both will perform as advertised and sound very nice (provided you build a proper box) so flip a coin or just pick which one you like the looks of better.

You won’t be disappointed in either as long as you put them in a proper box. I’d go for the one I get the best deal on (likely the Alpine Type X). They both seem to need the same size boxes with the JL likely needing just a bit less volume. Feed it some clean power and you’ll be happy.
