JL 250/1 Questions <--Underrated?

I was looking at the slash series JL's and the JL Audio A1400. I was woundering if the amps are underrated/overrated at all. I love the Slash series black editions and was thinking of using one. Im thinking about getting a 12" AA Atlas and pushing it with a JL 250/1 but there RMS is 300 and I like to overpower, if not power at least the RMS. Would I be better off with a JL Audio A1400 thats 400w RMs at 2 ohm? I know you all think JL is over rated but I love their amps. So what kind of power do I expect from a JL 250/1, just 250w?
