Jack Frost or others..

It's good...just two channel though. I thought you were looking at a full 5.1 or 7.1 surround system? Or did you decide that wouldn't work out...

And don't expect to get a full 120W out of that before clipping. HT receivers are notorious for overrating output power. It's not like you need anywhere near that in home, anyway. 50W of real, unclipped power is really the most you'll ever need.

I have the HK 3470 and love(d) it. The problem is their was a power surge or something at college and it messed somethng up with it... its still usable but it now has lots of quirks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Lol

Well theres no way I will be able to fit a 5.1 or 7.1 in my dorm room...

Especially with how my roommate is

Of course Ill upgrade after college, but do you think this will work good for 2 speakers and a sub?

That's what surge protectors are for, nitwit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Well see the problem was my surge protector (yes I had one) was sitting on the floor and the reciever was at the top of my hutch right under my lofted bed in the dorm. The cord wouldn't reach all the way to the surge protector but it would reach to the wall outlet which was right there... I mean, what are the chances! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

works great for me, and my dayton cabinets + e8a + PE plate amp.

That's exactly it. Murphy's Law...the lightning or power spike will only strike your equipment when it's not protected.

I was running two JBL 3way studio monitors, a NAD integrated amp with about 40wpc, and a 250W plate amp pushing a Shiva in 1.5cubes sealed...I was the loudest thing on the hall when I was in the dorms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Trust me, a good two channel setup is all you're going to need.

Yea I think Im gonna go with a DD 8"Give it 240 from a PE plate amp

Where do people usually put plate amps?

They are integrated into the box usually right?
Yep, just cut a square hole in the side of the box and screw it in, the output wires are already on the back of it.

eww I need to dust...
