sorry, newb here with a newb question

i got a deh 11 for christmas and sold my old car with a better hu in it so im putting this in my new truck.

if i hook up just power and ground, and just leave the ignition switch unconnected, it should turn on right?

nope it wont turn on. you nee the yellow and red to positive and the black to negative. also some HU's wont come on without the antenna plugged in...

it'll come on if u put the red and yellow both on the yellow wire and ground it but it wont have memory but u can test it that way.

That's actually all I have attached to my HU. Power, Ground, Remote, Antenna, and preouts.

alright i got that working and put in the dash, then i pulled a sub and amp out of storage to put it in. i pulled the hu out and of course, something happened and my power wire has no power anymore. probably shorted something
