Is this car worth $2000..??

Going to chime in here, I have a '94 Mazda 626 (the 4 door version of the MX-6) with the 2.0L 4 cyl. that has approx. 67k miles on it. I've owned it for two years and have had no trouble with it, I'm putting on about 500-600 miles per week and if I had to pick on anything it would be nice to have a bit more HP. Thay are a fun, cheap car to drive. The 5sp is a good tansmission, the auto's are weak. They are sister cars to the Ford Mondeo (which the Ford Contour was based on).
I'm not making a whole lot of sense tonight, but just wanted to say that they are a good car if they've been taken care of.

while i'm glad the car is good for you, the 626 is NOT based off of the cdw-27 platform (cougar/contour/mystique/mondeo)

fyi

My buddies dad has a 2002 corvette ( C5 i think ) loaded with the z51 package hes trying to sell for 20k.. But If I could afford the car the insurance would kill me
Thats the reason I was looking at the older 2000-2001 mustangs and camaros
Actually insurance isnt that bad. Insurance prices are based on number of claims, repair cost.... etc. Fact of the matter is most vetts are owned by middle aged adults who do go racing around town running into shit. Ofcourse your driving record will play a roll but insurance for a vett isnt bad on its own.

the vette is gonna have to wait.. I just cant spend 20k now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

BUT I do have a 96 grand am GT thats red and found this on Craigs list.. Perfect interior and exterior, but has a blown piston, so its gonna need a new motor.. But even so, for about $1500-$2000 I would have a flawless 97 grand am with a brand new motor.. Yay, nay?

id like to know how this piston is blown? it could have had a previous lower intake gasket repair by a shop, if you use an air tool on the rocker bolts instead of properly torqueing them they have proven to be very common at pulling the thread back out of the head within a year or two...and they sound terrible too!
