Is there really such a thing as SQ subs?

well first off i must say that listening to bass at 140+db's while having mids and highs playing at 100 db's is NOT SQ to begin with. having a somewhat flat frequency response is part of what makes an sq sub. that and a lot of other things as well. also there is still more to it than just being able to play flat from 20-80hz. it has to blend with the front stage as well.

Manufacture specs are always accurate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

just going from a ported HD3 to a pair of RWE-354s sealed, I notice a bunch of low-end material that I never heard with any other woofers. There is content below 30hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If you think speakers of that size can reproduce 20hz 'with authority', then we really have nothing to discuss. I save my replies for people living in reality. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Through mixing two or more tones you can create the impression of bass without actually playing those notes directly. For instance mixing a 40Hz and 25Hz note together will produce a roughly 36 Hz tone. I suspect the same thing can be done in the opposite direction in order to create the impression of bass, and I'm assuming that is what most head phones do... I'm not saying anything in particular about your headphones, because I know nothing about them... I'm just theorizing through my knowledge of sound... maybe I'm wrong... I don't know just food for thought

we're talking about headphones remember but with mine you can feel every note in the bass check on hoods run down, like i said listen to a pair first. ill put it this way, they have the best bass response of any headphones under the price of 200 bucks and/or in that size ive heard
