Is there really such a thing as SQ subs?

I love bass, dont get me wrong, but I hear every one asking for SQ subs. I know some subs sound better then otheres but if your looking into subs, how much sound quality are you looking for? If you really were into SQ couldent you find $500 components that would allow you to not use a sub. Any decent sub will cost $200 to $400....maybe more, so Couldent you spend that in sound deading to achive SQ? This is the end of my rant, I was just tired of the SQ sub (I myself have been guilty, but I quickly relised, loud rumbels arnt really SQ)

there are SQ subs. but the box you put it in can still turn an SQ sub into a shitty sounding sub.

if your really into SQ what music do you listen to that has a 20hz note? Rap is really the only thing I can think of that has anything close to that. Im not saying theres a right or a wrong, im just asking, couldent you reat a very nice SQ set up without a sub?

there is plenty in rock and metal and classical and jazz and the list goes on with stuff below 80 hz.

6.5" mids really shouldn't be crossed below 80hz,

8" mids really shouldn't be crossed below maybe 50-60hz.

so you will need something to play from those values down to at least 25-30hz with some authority.

Theres the kind of answer im looking for. So is that what makes up a SQ sub? Any thing in the T/S perameters that show its more of a SQ sub?

those two have a lot to do with the enclosure and tuning also but yes.
