Is SI MAG Really The BEST SQL SUB? Does it get LOUD!!??!!

Is the SI Mag really the best SQL sub for the price? The only reason I have not bought 2 15's yet is because I don't think they will get loud enough... Am I wrong?

2 of their 15's would be crazy, more than likely overkill. Are you sure you have enough room to run two of them? Their 12's don't take up nearly as much room.

I was going to suggest that, but a lot of the people who sell used ones sell them for around $400, and also most people don't want to get rid of their new mags so they are hard to find. But you do see them around every now and then.
That's true. I can't run mine currently but hate to sell it so it's sitting around waiting for me.

there is no best
I disagree with that comment.

There IS a best sub for every install. Maybe one sub isnt the top over another just by looking at them, but in my install I truely beleive that the Mag is the best sub for the job. I highly doubt you will find a better sub for my install. Which clearly makes the mag "the best" atleast for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you can't get "loud" with two 15" Mag's you have serious issues to address. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Loyd is doing serious numbers with his two 12's, Scott Stoner did 150 with a single gen 2 Mag in a wall with 1200 watts, Hoss was pissed when he would do a 150 because his normal was a 153 with four claw Mag 12's, Chad with his new Mag 12's, Sean B. with his two new Mag's, etc, all did/do extremely well. In the right alignment our Mag's can get nasty loud, and conversely they can do double duty for a more "SQL" approach if you want it to. My 'teggy is doing mid 140s with two Mag 12's in 1 cube each sealed. Two Mag 15's in the right enclosure can do serious harm to an SPL meter AND sound good for daily driving.

Well, I bought a cheap component set for now. Dayton 7"RS,BG Neo3 Planar Tweeter, Phoenix Gold Xenon 100.4. It's no match for 150'dbs of bass though. Look into Horn Loaded Compressed Drivers and a good EQ if you want to do that. Although the Planars are pretty loud just off 15 watts.

ohhh, I thought you were saying that your front stage drowns out the 150db of bass.

The only reason im going to ask this is because it really hasnt been compared lately.....

So whats a better SQL sub.. older XXX, or an SS Mag....or are those like flip a coin.

gotta say i love the new mag in the celica...its more then enough for me nowadays..

got another one sitting beside my bed chillin...prolly waiting for a future HT project //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
