That is 100% dependent on your budget. If you can afford a new mag, it will be much better than the old mags in just about every way. But of course the older versions were very nice drivers as well.

If you can afford the new mags, they will be better than the Rlp subs, but once again it all depends on your budget.

Then I would suggest looking for an older version mag or rlp sub, or saving up more for one of the new mags.

Also, the BM series from SI may be something you might want to look into.

I was going to suggest that, but a lot of the people who sell used ones sell them for around $400, and also most people don't want to get rid of their new mags so they are hard to find. But you do see them around every now and then.

how much can people get new mags for?? Are they only factory direct, or do they sell online. Because ive seen IDMAX's for like 300 online...you could get 3 of those, and for just 200 more, 4 of those...which I would guess would sound louder than 2 15" mags...but im just throwin that out there to see if anyone agrees.... For 1,000 in subs, i think you could get louder than 2 15" mags...Like 4 15" L7's....that would do it...but yes, then there are space issues.

Total Mag hype starting as of this month. Not that its a bad thing.

Well, I bought a cheap component set for now. Dayton 7"RS,BG Neo3 Planar Tweeter, Phoenix Gold Xenon 100.4. It's no match for 150'dbs of bass though. Look into Horn Loaded Compressed Drivers and a good EQ if you want to do that. Although the Planars are pretty loud just off 15 watts.

classic set of CDT 5.25's on custom xovers with 80 watts keep up just fine in the current install...

and back in the days of 8's... they did too..

I was runing Ascendant Poly mids and vifa xt25 tweeters... KX200.2 for the tweets and 650.4 for the mids... they kept up with a easy mid 140's set up...

I'll let you know how the polys and the B&C DE500's keep up with the bigger mags when I get them.... I think pain will set in LONG before I can't hear my highs... but we'll see.

Well...Everything I could have said has already been said, and I have been saying from the begining (being that I was one of the first to have them, well, the first non rep/competitor) I cant find a better driver that fits my budget, sound preferences, output preferences, or looks preferences...I will rep the mags for as long as I am able.

whats the diff in spl and sq in the 2nd and 3rd gen
