I just pulled a real bone head move a minute ago....I was trying to redo the big 3 wiring on my car and i was in the process of routing the engine block to ground run because the crimp came off and went to take the negative out of the battery but the wire got pushed over and touched the postive terminal on the battery and it caused a short spark and the next thing i know i see smoke coming from underneath the battery and i hear sizzling n my alarm went off....no fuses blew and my amps are working normally as well as everything else but did i just harm my battery????

If you saw smoke then you damaged something. I'm confused though, what wire did you touch to the positive terminal? It was a wire going somewhere else? Or did it go straight to the negative terminal? Because if that wire goes somewhere else (i.e. through some kind of electrical component) then you just sent hundreds of amps through that component and probably fried it (whatever "it" is)

Sounds like it went engine ground to positive.

No the case looks fine the battery is like 2 weeks old....and I had runs already going through the car but my alternator to postive somehow fell down into my radiator fan and got chewed up a while ago so I was getting ready to re do the runs and I noticed how the crimp came off of the negative run and I redid it and was in the process of removing the negative terminal off the battery to put it back on and thats when I pushed it into the postive. The wire was the chassis to ground wire that touched...

THE NEGATIVE RUN TO WHERE?

**** dude...

Im sorry Im just really worried right now. What happen was my 0/1 GA run for the chassis to ground wire crimp had came off the battery. I put the crimp back on and was in the process of removing the negative terminal on the battery to hook it back up to the battery when I shoved that wire into the postive terminal. I moved it as quickly as I could but next thing I know I see smoke coming from underneath the battery and my alarm going off. I checked all my fuses and nothing blew but Im just worried about the battery. What damage could I have done???

I cut all the electricals on but didnt start the engine everything seemed fine and the battery was still showing 12.9 volts because I just shut the car off before it happened...

Ok, that makes a hell of alot more sense than the op....if the wire ran from ground cable to chassis, you shouldnt have messed up any electrical really, and if ur battery didnt melt or anything, i cant forsee it being hurt...could throw a DMM on it quick, check voltage make sure it aint all whacked for some reason...other than that, I dont know what else u could have fried. And you said your amps and such still work? which means after this happened, you still continued to hook the battery up and try everything? Which means your battery is functioning?
