its not exactly average. It means its the most the amp can do with a certain ohm load given a certain qtc. Some are under-rated, some are overrated. it also depends on how you have your gains and how high your turn up your radio. I mean according to your logic, if you're running an SQ setup, pushing 500W RMS to a sub that needs 500W RMS, then you'll lose SQ unless you've got it turned all the way up to 500W to your sub, right? Meaning that at 1/2 volume, you're going to lose SQ.its 500rms.. that doesnt mean its ganna always put out 500.. rms is the avg right? that means it is anywhere from 0-500
You also might want to ask yourself what RMS is and how they find it for a sub.
