Is Car Audio Dying?

Anti-cruzin' and noise polution laws have definately lessened the hype, back in the hay day (late 80's early 90's) you didn't need a sound off or organized show to see and hear a bunch of slammin' systems. You justdrove the strip, and pulled up to Krystals and Ta-Daa, 10-20 boys with their toys were there. That is gone for the most part.

Yes, it seems to have declined quite a bit around here, hence the shop I used to work for doing front help has closed and reopened all to close back down with in a 2 year span. That wasn't but a few years ago as well.

I ask him all the time when he may try it again and he says probably never man, with the internet and more DIYers out there, I will never do it again.

Even still around our area not many people bumping. Only hear a system once in a while.

I live in an army town, so everyone's rolln' on big rims and usually has shitty prefab setups.

But hey, at least they're doing it still. But army towns are on a different planet entirely to start with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

In my area there about 4 people with serious systems. And then theres a handful of people with best buy or circuit city setups. Other than that it seems really dead. At work.... things have slowed down quite a bit, and I see fewer and fewer audio customers and more and more assholes scouting for internet purchases.

I hear alotta systems drive by my house, but rarely do I hear a rally hard thump. I know a few people with setups, but alomost all of them are flea market systems. Price is a major governing factor in my area. I wouldn't say it's dying, but defintely going downhill.

I say living in Alameda right next to oakland....when ever i go through oakland I hear a system bumping behind me or around me. but people always had that wtf look on there face when my minivan would roll up bumping harder.

I noticed lately in the past couple months there have been more systems around.

If you have less assholes bumping around your town/street, then you sould be thankfull, because that shit is annoying.

**** attn *****s.

Worst part is that they're always playing some stupid *** songs, hip-hop/rap or mariachi around here...

If you dont hear systems in your area like you use to, it probably has to do with more strict local laws being passed. Does this mean fewer people have systems? Not necessarily.

If your local b&m's are going out of business, chances are its from internet sales (and to some degree, internet education). Does this mean fewer people have systems? Not necessarily.

The economy will likely hurt the industry however. Possibly quite badly. It is, after all, a luxury hobby.

It has died in my area, most of the shops have gone under and the systems you hear now are Best Buy Specials. I am a Diehard Car Audio fan starting before I had a car and still going strong to this day. I still have a good time on Friday and Saturday nights rollin around and Dropin The Knob on the local ricer crowd .
