Installed new battery to chassis ground.. new problem...

My alt is fine on my car and it runs at 13.5 - 13.8 when my system is on

after driving around and bumping music with headlights, heated seat, wipers, blower, I decided to test the power at the amp once again. After driving and such the voltage was 12.6 and dropped to 12.5 when the sub slightliy hit. I really think the alternator is weak.. anyone else? I restate, 12.6 under load and engine running!

you should go check your bat and alt at auto zone have it check with your system on and with out i would aslo check your wiring maybe you have something wrong,

I will go to autozone today to have them test it. What wiring could be wrong??

eidt** Went to autozone, it started raining so I couldnt have them load test the battery. Anyways while under heavy load, i tested the battery (engine and all accessories running) and it read 12.2 and actually dipped to 11.5 when the sub hit for a second

Well I found out it was indeed my signal sensitivity that was causing my amp to overheat. Turned it to the point it said for bridged and have had no other problems.

After the blown kicker; I then bought off craigslist a sony xplod 1200w sub. I wanted a cheap fix and didnt want to wait for shipping. The sub came with a sealed box, and from the smell of glue, the sub is brand new.

I tried the sub in the sealed box, it was ok sounding, not loud enough.. so I put it in my 30hz tuned ported box and OMG it sounds like I now have two subs instead of one. I cannot believe the difference. I almost think the sony sounds better than my $150 kicker CVR! oh and the sony sub and box costed $45, and a 2 minute drive from my house //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just thought Id share. Thanks for the help everyone. I thought my gain was already adjusted!

Those readings are just fine with a stock alternator.Turn your stereo off and turn your a/c on???You are drawing current its going to drop!! The only way I achieved to get to the 14.4v range with a load was to purchase a high out put alternator that was built and made for my stock location ,and added another red top battery..The largest alternator that i could purchase locally at Orielys ect for my vehicle was 140amps,I found an alternator rebuild shop and they built me a 225amp for 320.00.
