i have the 1230w infinity 12'' sub

fosgate 600watt 2ch amp

i wired the power wire to teh battery, it works

i wired the remote battery along with rca imputs to hu and it works

wired the amp to the sub so its bridged mono

and wired in a gground

anyway i get all this done, me and my ol man hop in the car and go down the rd with the music PUMPING

it sounded so awesome, then he jumped out to check and make sure nothing was wrong..sure enough the sub didnt sound right at all so i turn it down and up a few timse, still sounds like crap!

2mins after that the sub wouldnt work at all

i must have the worst luck, i double checked everything and it was all wired properly...you wouldnt believe how mad i am right now i spent basically my whole day on this getting it to work just for tonite, guess what its 920pm and it ruined my **** nite

i need to find out whats wrong with it

-everytihngs wired correctly

-its not the box i eleminated that and double checked all connections

-the fuse is fine.

save me.

if the gains was up enough to "clip" the amp the distortion could kill a speaker very fast. but you could also have gotten a defective one. hard to say do you have another speaker to hook up to the amp to test it? maybe a wire came loose in the box? thats sort of thing. also if you have a DMM you can test the restistance and compare it to what it should have...

Digital MultiMeter. you can hook up a regular speaker as long as you turn the gain all the way down and dont use any bass boost... then turn it up just till the speaker work/doesnt....

Distortion does NOT kill speakers. It's the doubled power that is created by the clipping.

the amp was lit up and stuff so i knew power was going to that, but about an hr later the amp lite was off meaninng no power going to it

if the woofer does actually stink or smoke when blown it did either of them it looks fine.
