Installed buddy's system.. what's wrong?

Well I don't feel so clueless now then lol.. can someone tell me the correct way to connect stuff to the battery? Like if I was to connect the power wire of my amp to the battery, do I connect the RCA's to the amp and HU (that grounds them, right?), then connect the power wire to the battery with the negative of the battery connected? Or do I connect the negative AFTER the positive is connected.. because if I do it with negative attached it sparks lol.. can't be good...

Disconnect the - from the battery. do the work, reconnect the - to the battery.

Fused wire off the + of your battery to the amp

RCAs depending on if and how many preouts you have go off the radio into the amp. Some people ground them, some don't need to.

So I can take the pos. on and off with the neg. disconnected as much as I need?

It is always suggested that doing anything electrical to the car (alts, batteries, big 3 etc) to disconnect the negative first. Now if you're tuning or something like that of course not. But when you first install your equipment, do it.

any time you have to unhook a wire (other than rcas) unhook the battery. you'll be glad you did. and make sure the radio is off for rcas
