maybe HU isnt the prob
I went to my uncle's house.. and we began to troubleshoot... He has 2 SVC 4ohm RipHammer 12's tuned to 34HZ on a 1200watt MA Audio Amp..HU is a pioneer 7700 i think.. sounds nice and clean... since they're 1000RMS we put my mojo on his setup and it sounded unreal... Probably one of the best all around setups that ever caught my ear.. SQ was on point and we shook everything in the truck...
so next we drop my SXs in the box... and it sounds like the same ***! a dull rattling bass thats more annoying than loud.. and just an all around disapponitin experience.. I have my woofer wiring guide printed so im 100% its wired at 2ohms.. just a shitty and discouraging experience..
Next we put his RipHammers back in his box and leave my amp on em just to cleanse our ears of the Brown notes played by my SXs.. well we get it wired and they sound like as much *** as my SXs do.. exact same rattling and crappy bass.. you wouldnt have thought I ever unhooked the SXs.. sounded exactly the same...CRAPPY
then we hook his MA Audio back up... wow .. Like night and day.. the crisp sound comes back and we are back where we started!
What on gods green earth can be wrong? It isnt the HU.. or at least its not the Main factor since the SX's sounded like a fat man in the can on the nice Pioneer deck.. I doubt my box is the prob either.. Granted my box needs to be re-siliconed and braced some more, but I know thats not it either... So are my SXs F'd up or is it the amp? my thoughts: Cant be the amp cuz the 2nd subs sounded so good on it at 1st... Then again it cant be the subs cuz the 2nd Subs also sounded the Exact same on the second run!
