installed and not impressed

1 15" sx on a ma audio hk1000d did low 140's. that was not quiet. I would think two on 2kwrms would be kind of loud.

what is the box at right now? I would check polarity, even try switching them to see if it makes a difference. switch it and let us know if it makes a difference, or makes it even quieter..

You could be having cancelation issues aswell from whatever variables.

thanks fellas.. Imma turn the gain up a bit until I get my box 100% done this weekend and get everything put in how I want it.. then set it with a DMM and re-calculate my box ..If its still not loud imma buy a linedriver.... and if THAT doesnt work imma just get a new Pioneer HU.. I have the in-dash in my sig ATM

i think all the extra money spending will be unneccesary. i will take a stab that 1 its a electrical problem (ie polarity, wiring, gain) or 2 its a cancellation issue.

Thats why I still set my gains by ear. I turn the volume on the Headunit up to about 75% then I adjust the gain until I start to hear distortion, then I turn it down a little.

That method has always worked great for me.

that HU sucks for sound. At work, we have a sound room that we run all of our subs in. We had an Eclipse cd5000 in at and it made everything sound pretty good. But recently, we did some switching around and we put in a Jensen vm9312. It absolutely sucks. The output has dropped by about half no matter what amp or sub we use. And all we did was switch out the HU.

thats how i used to do it, then said screw it and bought a $125 Velleman scope from amazon

every component in my system cost at least 3x's that much, figured i should kick down the money and do it right

Is it a Pioneer deck? Somebody said to adjust the settings with the volume at 61/62. I disagree. I believe that Pioneers start distorting a signal at anything above a volume level of 49. I always set it at volume 49.

Again, ill say more gain or new headunit.

My oscope says otherwise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Dare I suggest turning on the LOUDNESS button //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

GF's car has a cheapo Pioneer HU that's 2v preouts and the ONLY way I can get decent output to sub and speakers is using loudness on setting #2. Otherwise it all sounds flat, even with amp gains at max.

Same sub/amp that rocked in my car off an Excelon with 4.5v preouts sounded like *** in her car until I started trying the loudness settings as it has 3 levels. So many guys consider it the kiss of death that I didn't even consider it for a few weeks. Glad I finally did as it was like night and day.
