I have faith this will be a good install, guy was a old school ISACA player

If I get time that I'm not counting on I'll do some of it so this is worse case senerio

The local shop quoted me $750 just for labor to build me a box. That's not including materials or any other equipment. Granted, it was a tall task. I don't think $900 is too bad, but I'd still try to find time to do it myself (even if it took a long time).

I don't have precision wood working tools. what do you think about mounting the amps upside down on the rear deck? Going for stealth here so keep that in mind. I can add fans if needed later.

i personally would have quoted well over $900 for what you're doing. I would have been in the $1500+ range.
I have a feeling he is wanting me to have his show off car. He has only been a DD dealer for a year and he is having a hard time selling it here. I'm in contact with a lot of potential customers since I teach at a fresh out of boot camp navy school house. I don't know if he realizes most don't even have cars. But I can still get him some business.

there something i dont get,

you have an answer for everything but dont know if you should mount your amps under deck.

its looking like you dont know much. sorry thats the way it looks.

for all the talk you do, do the install yourself. not hard.

that is a hell of a deal man i've heard of hundreds of dollar just for a 4ch install.

the deal for you includes a hell of a lot of fabrication and not to mention laying deadener.. and we all know how much laying deadener *****

I'm asking how it would look. I know how to do it.

It is a lot of fab work. We have no idea what's behind the door panels.

people who discount their labor do so b/c they know their labor isn't worth more. I am definitely one of the higher priced installers around here but they know they are getting someone who knows the score. I had a guy with a Mercedes get quoted $125 for a radio install and was quoted 1hr or less. I quoted $250 for the same install but I told him what was different about his car and how it needed to be installed. I told him to go ask the other shop if his car is any different than a radio in a Honda Civic. I showed the guy pics of previous installs on his exact vehicle showing him what I was talking about. He comes back a couple hours later after he talked to the other shop to schedule a time for his install and offered to buy me lunch b/c he felt he insulted me by questioning my knowledge and price. I let him buy me lunch and showed him a bit more about the extra precautions I take during my installs to assure him his car is in good hands.

Just make sure its secure. I wouldn't do it, but if stealth is what you're after, it may be a good option.

As for how it would look, I'm not a big fan. I'd mount the amps to wood with rubber spacers on one side of the trunk, or to the floor if it's solid
