Install my Exessive Amperage Alt AND..

Well i installed my 170a alt, i also did the big 3 and when im done after 5+ hours i turn on my car and voltage is 11.3.... and the batt signla comes on.... first though is the alt isnt charging so i go take a drive and rev it and it doesnt do shit. I fused the 0g wire from ALT + to BATT + with 200amps. What can be wrong?

when you got your alt, did you specify what it should do at idle speed?

the + wire from the alt that goes into the batt + its connected in the little thing that wraps around the + bolt, its helt on by the screw that wraps around the + bolt.

its most-likely not the problem, but to rule something simple out..change the batteries in your dmm.

im not taking the voltage from a DMM, im taking it from the HU that i have, its a Premier P770MP... btw its a Neon.

The battery check comes out in my dash and stays on.. so its either the alt or the installation.

Moe Lester has a similar h/u and it reads a good .5 low just so you know..

what kind of noise it is making?

is the alt externally regulated?

The noise is kinda like when you turn the AC on in the car, its NOT a whining sound..... the alt isnt externally regulated, a car electrician told me hell charge $70 to check it and the Neon's alt regulator is in the cars cpu.

idk man, not really too many variables...just check your connections.

otherwise, hate to say it. but, pull it out and put the stocker back in and see if it does the same thing.
