So now that I know a thing or 2 about installs, I was checking over some work that was done a few years ago in my car and have run into some red flags that piss me off to think I paid someone to do it. For starters not a single wire was soldered/butt spliced/screwed. They simply wraped the wires around each other and covered with electrical tape. My speaker power was definately suffering from the bad connection, but none the less, it was a pretty easy fix. I then noticed that instead of sending a dedicated power wire for each amp, they spliced a wire from the positive of amp 1 to positive of amp 2. They did atleast run separate grounds
My question is regarding the power wire going to the second amp. Am I getting less power to either/both amps because of this or is splicing an acceptable method to prevent the need for running 20 feet of cable through the car? Its something that I can easily do now myself, just wondering if its worth it? Unfortunately the shop has since gone out of business, so I cant take it back.
