Thats right bishes...
Just hooked up my harness and installed my headunit. But the headunit will come on, and i can tell that its playing a cd, but no output is coming out of the speakers, what did i do wrong? Im almost positive i wired it up right, but not hearing anything, not even static.

cd player is alpine cda 9853

Does your Explorer have a factory amp?

Perhaps it needs to be bypassed

Are you running outboard amplifiers?

Perhaps you hooked the power antenna wire up in place of the remote accessory activation wire (a common mistake as both of them are blue - just one has a white stripe alongside the sheathing and the other doesn't) and when in CD mode it isn't activating your amp(s)?

i havent hooked up the amp yet, just the speakers and all the main harness wires. ill double check i got all of them right, would a bad fuse give this problem?

fuse is good. but i pulled the harness back off, and there are a few wires that i didnt have anything to connect to, as follows.

on the harness i bought that plugs into factory harness i have left..

black/white wire that says amp ground

and i had 2 illumination wires. one was solid orange, which i connected to factory illumination, and then i have another orange/black wire that says dimmer on it, but i didnt have anything to connect that one to.

on the CD player harness..

P. Ant (solid blue) for motorized antenna that i dont have

In INT (pink/black) audio interrupt in lead

blue/white wire that is remote turn on lead

and thats it

also, there is a second harness that plugs into my factory head unit that has one yellow, and one grey/black wire that i have no clue what they do, but i dont have a harness for that one.

im 80% sure, is there a sure way of finding out? I know i dont have any stock sub, so it would have to be powering my door speakers, but no, im not positive that i dont have one. Im pretty **** sure i dont though. If i did, what would i have to do?

If there is one you have to do as Prowler suggested and bypass it OR use it until you install aftermarket amps.

On that second harness that plugged into the factory head unit that has one yellow, and one grey/black wire...that COULD be power & ground for the factory amp.

Not too familiar with your vehicle. Are there any Explorer XLT specific forums you can check to see if indeed there is a factory amp hidden somewhere?
