2004 Ford Focus factory deck stuck on mute?????

A lady i work with came in the other day and told me that her cd player was working one day and then the next day she got in her car and the cd player was stuck on mute. is there anything that could be done to fix that???? or would she have to get a new deck???? thanks

I've never even riden in a ford focus (thank god). But obviously check if a button is stuck down or something, if it is try and pop it up. Otherwise you could try popping it out completely and see whats going on. If the button is broken you could probably just solder a connection in place of the button, and put the button on for cosmetics. She would lose her mute functions though.

I think the SOP from ford is to replace the car...as it is cheaper then paying a wrench to removing the deck

Maybe take off the power wire from the battery for 30 sec to reset things?
