Featured Help needed, head unit install

I’ve bought a Kenwood DMX7722DABS from Halfords to go into my vw Passat b8 but I’m having trouble installing it, Halfords also sold me a installation kit,
Came with a Connects2 Steering Wheel Control Interface Adaptor. I have connected everything up as best I can however the head unit won’t turn on, from what I can tell I need to wire a ignition wire to the head unit somewhere but I don’t know where I would actually connect the wire to. I’m unsure if this is my only issue so any help is appreciated.

Weird that the adapter is not taking care of it. An ignition/accessory wire shouldn't be hard to find. Just get a test light or a multimeter.

It’s very possible I’ve wired something up wrong, first time trying something like this and guides aren’t too clear on what needed to be connected to what, 1 guide has said about connecting an ignition wire but I don’t actually know where I can find an ignition wire and where in the jumble of wires I connect it to.

Can't find any good info on b8 passat. You may want to try a vw forum.

On the Kenwood's harness, the ignition wire is the Red one. On the car, it is any wire that powers up when the key is in the Accessory or Run position. You can probably tap into a fuse that does this but as stated by marc2112, the adapter harness should have handled that being it is one of the primary connections.

If you haven't solved your issue, go back and check your wiring using the Head unit install manual. All wiring should be color coded. Another option is to contact Crutchfield.com and ask them if they have a prewired harness for your stereo and car. I used one a couple of years ago for my daughter's car and it was plug and play. Just a suggestion.
