Install cost?

cmon guys, not everybody are installers. i just got my stuff installed, i bought everything online and got a shop to install them, there are little stuff that i bought from the shop he charges 35 bucks a pair of speakers with new wire (this is average)

amp install with 4awg kit (included) $120

if you have a factory radio you will need that hi/low pass filter thing that cost 20-25 bucks install on this should be included in the amp install

stinger road kill not sure how much this cost

the price you are getting quoted on is really high

what i got done is the following for $267

install 4 channel amp

install 4 pairs of speakers all new wires

remove my Bose Subwoofer

install 2nd battery (he made custom so the battery does not move)

my headunit is after market.

naughtyca,

Thanks for the reply. Without a doubt the price he got was very high. Heck, you got even more bang for your buck. Thanks for addressing this post and sharing your info.

As you can see some people here are just plain butth*les. Funny thing is some of them (that act like they know it all) are asking questions themselves in other threads. They know who they are. They are the types that will continue to attack and criticize others. It's something that's not worth getting in to a long discussion about. Thanks again.

If you enjoy car audio, spending time in the garage with some tunes and brews.... DIY. If you don't really care about it as a "hobby", then pay somebody else...

I personally enjoy reading, learning, understanding, and installing things myself when I can. Saving money from not paying somebody to do it also is a perk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Edit: 600 you might as well bend over and take it in the pooper with a thank you. You can find better prices...

It deff is high.. 300 is far more reasonable obviously. I just paid 175 to just install my 2 12"s and run the power/speaker wire. Everything was there except for the power/speaker cable. This was their only cost. Basically charged 125 to run the wire. Thats what happens when you dont want to DIY.. -__-

That would be great if I had someone to teach me in person so I could gain some hands on experience. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing certain things on my own especially to someone else's vehicle. I wouldn't want to tear apart their door and damage it in some way, plastic snaps, etc. I did bridge 2 channels on a amp. LOL! I like checking in to this stuff and trying to get a better understanding of it though. Things I want to know... what sub(s) in what enclosure would give me SQL? What subs would be a good match for this particular amp? Can I wire (2) 2 DVC 2 ohm subs to get a 4 ohm load? A 2 ohm load? Stuff like that for example.

I agree... at $600.00+ he should take some lube with him. And to think... some thought that was a legit asking price for a a simple install like that. Even the parts/materials were grossly inflated. I personally don't mind paying someone as long as it's reasonable. In this case I didn't think it was and told him to check other places.

That's ridiculous. People like that don't get repeat business and don't get referrals... not from me. They will eventually fade away unless they are the only game in town.

I don't really claim to know anything about anything related to real car audio. I do spend tons of time reading various forums, asking questions, and just lurking in the back trying to gain some knowledge.

One thing I have learned, is typing ANY question into Google search, will yield results. 90% of the time, it will provide enough information for somebody to get a general idea of what they are up against and will allow them to decide if its something they can feel they can tackle or not.

IE.., "How to remove door panel in XXX car" or "How to change turbo housing on XXX turbo" etc..,

If you feel you can do the job, do it! Nothing is really more satisfying then doing something that peaks your interest, and seeing it work! AND if something goes wrong, you know the "system" and how to fix it!

Just food for thought.

Agreed. It was my only option at the time because I needed it hooked up asap and it would have taken me like 5 days just to get the wire. So I bit the bullet. I don't like business like that. I'd far rather make a box for someone and sell it for just enough to get me a few meals, than to gouge them and not get the return business.

install yourself

install 0$....knowledge priceless
This. If you have a question about something post up some pics, along with the question you have and people are more than willing to help. or find someone from the forums near you that can do the install for much less.

I can't stress doing it yourself enough..I didn't think I could and a month later I was installing everything in my car with almost 0 issues. Not only do you save yourself a good chunk of change but you also know how everything is pieced together so in the case of something not working you can easily diagnose it.

do it yourself unless your that busy or rich. shops charge from $30-60 per hour for labor depending on if they like you or not lol. good places will give you a break and will be closer to the 30 an hour end.
