Think this is a bit too much to pay for an install? $602.00 before tax? Here's the job...

Install one set of components in front, in factory locations- 2 tweets, 2 mids. Run new wire run to them. Install shop wants to use the factory car stereo wire that is already in place. They said the factory wire is fine. Customer insists on having new wire. Head unit is already installed.

Install one 4 channel amp in trunk. Attach the amp directly to the sub enclosure with 4 screws.

Secure sub enclosure in trunk with 4 screws.

Put Stinger Road Kill in both front doors.

4 gauge Install Bay amp kit $89.00

Stinger Road Kill $75.00

Tsunami brand RCA's $18.00

Install $420.00

Total Cost: $602.00 before tax.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

$602.00 before tax.

WTF?!

How is it going to be a "profitable" business if they don't have a little money for themselves vs just straight charging materials?
DIY... Well he doesn't have the knowledge to do it and I don't either so he is looking to have it "professionally" installed. The post wouldn't have been made in the first place if he could do the job. Sure they need to make a profit, but that's a pretty simple install. I think they are way out of line with the price. You don't think? Materials... that amp kit can be had for $30.00. That's not straight charging for materials. BTW, there are no expectations to get anything for cost. The post was pretty simple. So far no one can answer it though... none of the responses addressed it really. The most ridiculous being... "Is this for you?" LOL! I mean come on. The poster wasted his time with that.

if it's the same place that did your amp settings then go somewhere else and the price depends on who does the work if they are good then that sounds fair.

quit bitching and go do your homework.

if you don't think the prices are fair on the goods, find them for less by searching for a better deal; if it is labor costs that bother you, how hard is it to mount a frigging sub enclosure and amp, and hang some MLV on the doors?? your "friend" can't handle a screwdriver?

That is retail. The prices are correct for a shop on the parts. I don't know about the labor. If you ask them to do something they don't want to then they could charge you extra for that. Check around on pricing or pick up a wrench.

Something tells me the man in the picture is actually Flex.

cmon guys, not everybody are installers. i just got my stuff installed, i bought everything online and got a shop to install them, there are little stuff that i bought from the shop

he charges 35 bucks a pair of speakers with new wire (this is average)

amp install with 4awg kit (included) $120

if you have a factory radio you will need that hi/low pass filter thing that cost 20-25 bucks install on this should be included in the amp install

stinger road kill not sure how much this cost

the price you are getting quoted on is really high

what i got done is the following for $267

install 4 channel amp

install 4 pairs of speakers all new wires

remove my Bose Subwoofer

install 2nd battery (he made custom so the battery does not move)

my headunit is after market.

Seems high.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are in high school or college you could ask them for a student discount. Some places will do that.

He emailed to say he got a price from another shop for half the cost with better parts/materials...

front comp install: $80

amp install: $90

amp kit: $50

dynamat 2 doors: $50

new speaker wire $30

$300.

Those prices look much more in line with what he needs done.
