Infinity or MB Quart

75 rms componet speakers with swivel tweeters us made from 2003 old stock i have had sitting on the shelf and brand new. I just broke the plastic on one. I have 2 sets installed on my grand prix. these were going to go in another build that never happened. Its a steal that would go great with the boston amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Need to make the most of this double posting whackness...

Basically, OP, if you want to keep it Old School, you can get some AMAZING stuff here on the cheap

As long as you have the HU already knocked out, you're in pretty good shape. Yes, the audio game's not like it used to be any more, but there's still good stuff to be had. Funny thing is, the stuff we really couldn't afford when we were younger is now Old School and sells on the cheap. You can start grabbing up some of that Zed-made goodness on the cheap.
I know all about the virutes of buying second had gear belive me. I've got a bit of a home audio addiction as well and you can get some real good value by snagging some of the high end gear made in the 70's and 80's. Though on the car audio front the issue that I have is that most componets live a much harder life than there home bound relatives and in the case of second hand it's sold as is.

Honestly with all things considered I'm thinking I'm gonna stik with the Alpha. I remember that even after the Anaba Group bought them out in 2002 they continued to make some **** fine amps and if the 12005E turns out to be more boom than sizzle she'll get returned and I'll take a look at on of her compeditors. Though I do appreciate the input and help.

I've never heard the Onyx's, but if something is cheap AND sounds good... it catches on fast. Nobody's mentioned them, so I'm inclined to think that you get what you pay for there. The Infinity's I've heard were a bit bright in the upper frequencies. But they were clear. I've had low-end cdt's that sounded good, and my current set(the PHD's in my sig) is outstanding. I have a vid of the latter in the PHD vendor section, playing at full tilt. If you like their sound, you can try out one of there entry level models. Even those are rated for 70 wrms.
Ok so the MB are out though the infinity's still intrigue me. I've been accoused of likeing "bright" speakers before so that may be a personal taste. Though I'll also take a look at what CDT has to offer in my proce range. I've heard good things about CDt though it's mainly been about there amplifiers. I appreciate all the feed back I've gotten form you guys in such a short time.

I remember back when Infinity and MB Quart were both good brands and from what I've gathered they still make a solid product. Even if they are owned by Harmon Internation...

What do you mean by that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif Harman International has been around for over 60 years, with some of the smartest minds in acoustics at their employ. Just one example is Dr. Floyd Toole. Sound Reproduction: The Acoustics and Psychoacoustics of Loudspeakers and Rooms: Floyd Toole: 9780240520094: Amazon.com: Books

im telling you that alphasonik is no where near as nice as the boston acoustic but hey you may still be happy

boston puts out 75rms x4 and 500rms at 2 ohm mono //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm well aware of there reputation. Though there are of expertice was home audio back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. There current products are pretty good but they aren't the cutting edge in audio either. Thats what I was getting at.

Lets not start throwing stones here, I didn't insult you or your speakers or the amp you sujested. Do you have any direct experiance with their current products or are you basing that statment off what a few people have to say. Cause from what I've seen it's anything but a "cookie cutter chinese amp".

Not their amps, but the JBL MS comps that I picked up were built under Harmon's rule and Andy Weyermeyer (or something like that) has done wonders for the brand and company for quite some time now. Just because Harmon pays the bills doesn't mean everything they make now is inferior
