Well, if you guys have seen my other thread i am looking to replace/improve my ta's audio system, and am somewhat clueless as to how it all works, and what i need to buy to make it work. This is a list of what I plan to buy within the next couple weeks...

1. JVC KD-LH300 head unit

2. 2 Infinity 6x9" speakers

3. 2 Infinity 6 1/2" speakers

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8210777&type=product&id=1166236336377

4. 2 Infinity 4" speakers (in dash)

5. 2 Infinity 1" tweaters (maybe put in dash instead of 4's)

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=430&i=1081021T&c=3&tp=107

6. 2 Infinity 12" subwoofers (separate enclosure)

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=520&i=1081250W&c=3&tp=111

7. Kicker KX3 electronic 3-way crossover

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=82600&i=20603KX3&tp=117

my main question is, does my head unit have the sufficient connections for all of this? (there is a picture of connections on other thread)

also, how many amps do i need, and of what power range? do i get one for the subs and one for the speakers?

i've heard i need a crossover, which apparently separates the high, low and medium frequencies and sends them to the correct type of speaker, do i really need one (number 7,) how big a difference in clarity you think?

o god, will i need to upgrade the (i think) stock alternator???

car is a 1979 ***** am.

i think thats all the questions i have, thanks to all!

Where are all these speakers going?

Imo especially since you dont seem to know that much about car audio yet you should just go with a sub/front component speakers and two amps for now.

Keep it around 700-1000 watts you alternator should be ok. Just do the big three and you might need a battery upgrade

yeah i don't know much about brands, is infinity that bad? i want a perfect pristine sound for my car, price can be midrange to high end, what do you all recommend???
do some research, find a QUALITY car audio store somewhere and let them install it for you.

if your not sure what your doing, you can waste a lot of money and do damage.

the store will only charge you 20% in labour cost of the whole install ($1300) and your ride will be ready and bumpin in 24 hours.

^ thats my advise.

those cars are easy to get sound out of them. look into 2 amplifiers a deck front speakers (rear if you like) and something like 2 kicker solo 10's. take it to a shop and get some ideas with the budget you have.
